The chief of the sociocultural research department at the Russian independent polling organization Levada Center, has said that 39% of Russian citizens believe the “use of nuclear weapons” in Ukraine “could be justified.”

Alexey Levinson, conducted the poll on Friday and the results have not as yet been published, but according to previous polls there is a large number of Russian citizens who do support the use of a nuclear weapon to be used.

Last month Vladimir Putin approved the new nuclear doctrine and the Russia dictator has threatened more attacks on Ukraine using the “Oreshnik” intermediate-range ballistic missile which is also designed to use nuclear warheads.

Levison said the constant threats and talks of using nuclear weapons against Ukraine has gradually led to an increase in the proportion of (Russians) who believe it is acceptable, in fact, morally justified,” the Kyiv Independent reports.

Levada polls showed that the percentage of Russians who oppose using weapons of mass destruction fell from 52% in June to 45% last month.

Last week Putin threatened to turn Ukraine “to dust” using his new super weapon which has the power of a nuclear explosion.

Putin said the Oreshnik missiles will turn areas of Ukraine in “to dust” and the blasts are “comparable to nuclear weapons.”

He said the destruction of the blast will be devastating and said “of course, there are no equivalents in the world.”

Putin added, “This is 10 Mach. This is about three kilometres per second. The temperature of the damaging elements reaches 4,000C degrees…. On the surface of the sun, the temperature is 5,500-6,000 degrees.

“Therefore, everything that is located in the epicentre of the explosion is divided into fractions, into elementary particles, turn, in fact, into dust.

“The missile is striking even highly protected and located at great depths of objects…. The power of this blow will be comparable with the use of nuclear weapons, although the weapons of mass destruction of the Oreshnik are of course not nuclear.”
