Ukraine have been given a green light to use lethal UK supplied Storm Shadow cruise missiles inside Russia on military targets.

Ukrainian forces will now use the UK supplied long-range cruise missiles on targets deep inside Russian territory.

The Guardian newspaper reported that Downing Street will not make the announcement public and anonymous sources have said “it would be considered unnecessarily provocative.”

The Guardian said that Sir Keir Starmer or the Defence Secretary are unlikely to speak publicly over the decision following a meeting in Washington on 13 September with the US President Joe Biden.

UK warned with an ‘appropriate response’ if Kyiv allowed to use long-range weapons inside Russia

On Wednesday the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and the British Foreign Secretary David Lammy accused Moscow of “escalating” the war as Iran has supplied hundreds of ballistic missiles to Russia.

The US Secretary of State said that Russia receiving Iranian missiles is “an additional capability and additional flexibility” for Moscow in their war against Ukraine.

On Wednesday the Kremlin warned the US and the UK there will be an “appropriate response” if they allow the use of long-range weapons to be used deep inside Russia.

The Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it looks like Washington and London have already made the decision to allow Ukrainian forces to use the long-range missiles on Russia as Biden has said he is “not ruling out” lifting the ban on such weaponry.

Peskov said that the “collective West” have made a decision adding they have made “an additional confirmation of the justification, necessity and inevitability” with Vladimir Putin’s so called “special military operation.”

Late last month a Ukrainian columnist for the Information Resistance group Oleksandr Kovalenko told RBC-Ukraine, “A Ukrainian missile will hit Moscow, hit something very important.

“After which Russia will be given an ultimatum: either you leave Ukraine, or we will destroy Moscow and St. Petersburg.”

He added: “The most important events of the war are ahead of us.”
