Genesis GV90 ultra-luxury EV crashes and gets stuck during testing [Video]

Genesis is preparing to launch its most luxurious EV yet, the GV90. The flagship electric SUV will challenge ultra-luxury brands like Rolls Royce. However, after it crashed and got stuck during cold weather testing, Genesis may need to fine-tune it before it’s ready to hit the road. Check out the video of it below.

Genesis GV90 crashes during cold weather tests

We got a sneak peek of the new flagship electric SUV after Genesis unveiled the Neolun concept last March. The GV90 (Neolun) is the brand’s first full-size electric SUV, and from what we’ve seen so far, it will be a beauty.

Genesis wants the GV90 to be more than “mere transportation” with added luxury, tech, and other features. The exterior follows its “Reductive Design” philosophy with clean lines and a minimalistic body. Other signature Genesis design elements like two-line headlights and Crest Grille add to the premium feel.

The concept even includes Rolls Royce-like Coach Doors. With the B-pillar removed, Genesis opened up the interior space opens up for even more amenities.

As the Coach Doors swing open, you are met by rich Royal Indigo cashmere and Purple Silk leather draped on the seats and interior. The dark color wood trim helps offset the design while adding luxury.

Other signature Genesis elements, like its Crystal Sphere centerpiece and 24.6″ curved panoramic infotainment system, will still be included.

The Genesis GV90, which is expected to debut later this year, has recently been spotted out for testing. Last week, we got our first look at the electric SUV, which shows that the production model will follow the design of the Neolun concept.

Most recently, the new EV was caught during cold weather testing in the Arctic. From the looks of it, the tests didn’t go as planned.

The Genesis GV90 apparently crashed during testing and got stuck. The video from CarSpyMedia shows the flagship Genesis EV lodged in a snowbank.

Genesis should consider using some off-road tech in its GV60 Mountain Intervention Vehicle (MIV), unveiled last month for extreme rescue missions, to get the GV90 back on track.

Genesis is expected to unveil the GV90 later this year, while mass production is planned to begin in 2026. The vehicle is expected to be available in a Standard and an Exclusive model.

The base (Standard) GV90 is rumored to start at around 100 million won ($80,000). For double that, at around 200 million won ($160,000), the Exclusive trim will retain features like Coach Doors from the Neolun concept. But, it will be limited to just a few models.

Hyundai will build the Genesis GV90 at its Ulsan EV plant in South Korea. It will be the first Hyundai Motor vehicle powered by the new “eM” platform, which will replace its current E-GMP.
