Genesis GV90 sheds more camo: Here’s our best look at the flagship electric SUV

The largest and most luxurious Genesis electric SUV is almost here. It will be the first full-size Genesis electric SUV to hit the market, but it’s promised to be much more than that. The GV90 is expected to rival ultra-luxury models like the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. After the Genesis GV90 was spotted with barely any camo out in public, we are finally getting a better idea of what to expect from the flagship EV.

Genesis previewed the GV90 last March after unveiling the Neolun concept. “It’s the epitome of timeless design and sophisticated craftsmanship,” said Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke.

The name “Neolun” comes from the Greek word “Neo,” meaning new, and the Latin word “Luna,” or moon. Genesis said the term represents its “technical innovation that exceeds conventional standards and sets forth the brand’s vision for the future.”

Genesis included a “reductive,” minimalistic design inspired by Korea’s moon-shaped porcelain jars. The most stand-out feature was the included coach doors, giving the electric SUV a Rolls Royce-like feel.

By removing the B-pillars, the interior opens up with more space. According to Genesis, B-pillarless coach doors are now feasible for production vehicles.

Although we’ve seen the GV90 a few times now leading up to its official debut, the most recent sighting gives a closer look at the design with less camo.

As you can see from the new video courtesy of MediaAuto, the Genesis GV90 design stays close to the concept. From the first look, you can already see the flagship electric SUV’s massive size compared to what appears to be the GV60 model in front of it.

The SUV still features the two-line headlamps shaped into the signature Genesis Crest grille. However, there are a few differences.

For one, the concept had a separate trunk and the roof rack folded in when not in use. The wheels also look slightly smaller at around 22″ compared to the concept with 24″

You might notice something else is missing: the coach doors. Don’t worry. This is likely just a different GV90 model. Genesis is expected to launch at least two trims: Standard and Exclusive.

The one we see in the video is likely the standard model. The Exclusive variant is rumored to maintain the coach doors and other ultra-luxury design features. It’s expected to start at around 200 million won ($160,000) and be limited to just a few models.

Genesis is expected to officially reveal the GV90 later this year, with mass production set to begin in early 2026.

Hyundai will build the new flagship electric SUV at its Ulsan plant in South Korea. It will be the first EV to ride on Hyundai’s next-gen eM platform, set to replace the current E-GMP.
