While the champions have already sewn up the title once more and head into the game boasting a 16-point lead over their eternal rivals, they do have some making up to do.
Indeed, Rangers inflicted only a second derby defeat on Brendan Rodgers during the last meeting between the two Glasgow giants back in January. The Gers ran out 3-0 winners that day to claim the most recent set of bragging rights.
The game not only marks the return of at least some away supporters but it is a new role for Rangers legend Barry Ferguson too.
Though the former Gers and Scotland midfielder is a man steeped in Old Firm history, Ferguson is today getting set to manage the club for the first time in one of the most high-profile fixtures around.
Though inexperienced, Ferguson managed to overcome Turkish giants Fenerbahce to progress into the Europa League quarter-finals, beating Jose Mourinho’s side in a dramatic penalty shootout at Ibrox.
