The wait is almost over. Range Rover’s first electric SUV will soon arrive at showrooms, and over 61,000 people have already signed up for the waitlist.
Over 61,000 on the waitlist for Range Rover’s electric SUV
After releasing Q4 and FY25 financial results on Wednesday, Jaguar Land Rover confirmed the waitlist for Range Rover’s first electric SUV continues growing.
The Range Rover Electric now has over 61,000 potential buyers waiting. That number is up from 57,000 in January and around 48,000 in November 2024.
With its official debut only months away, winter testing is ongoing in Sweden to ensure the electric SUV still offers that “unrivalled” Range Rover driving experience. The SUV has been tested over 45,000 miles across frozen lakes and tundras.
The company claims it’s currently undergoing “the most intensive testing any Range Rover vehicle has ever endured.”
According to Range Rover’s executive director of product engineering, Thomas Müller, the electric version is already outperforming some of its top gas-powered models.
“Range Rover Electric matches the performance of its ICE equivalents; in some instances, even surpassing them,” Müller said after driving it up to 328 ft (100 meters) on sand dunes.
The electric SUV features JLR’s first in-house 800V battery and electric powertrain. Although the driving range has yet to be revealed, we do know it will be powered by a 117 kWh battery.
Following winter testing in Sweden, Range Rover’s electric SUV will arrive in showrooms later this year. The company said it has successfully tested new EV production lines at its Solihull, UK, plant to prepare for the Range Rover Electric. By 2026, Range Rover will launch the smaller Sport and Velar EV models.
On Wednesday, JLR also confirmed plans to launch a new EV under its Freelander brand through its collaboration with Chinese automaker Chery Auto.
