Range anxiety used to be the biggest reason shoppers hesitated over an electric car. The MG Windsor EV tackles that concern head-on with a capable battery, multiple ways to charge and an app that keeps you informed in real time. The result is a driving experience that revolves around your plans, not your next plug-in stop. Here is the no-nonsense rundown on how far the Windsor EV will take you and how quickly it gets back to full strength.

Solid, safe battery choices

Two battery sizes power the MG Windsor EV line-up. The city-friendly 38 kWh pack keeps weight down, while the 52.9 kWh unit is built for longer runs. Both use prismatic cells, valued for their thermal stability, and drive a permanent-magnet synchronous motor that delivers smooth, silent thrust. Safety circuitry constantly monitors temperature and voltage, so every module meets stringent durability standards.

Real-world range figures

Pick the 52.9 kWh battery and you can cover up to 449 kilometres on one charge; choose the 38 kWh option and you still get a healthy 332 kilometres. Those numbers translate to a week of office commutes or a relaxed inter-city round trip without stopping to refill. Four driving modes fine-tune consumption along the way. Eco+ and Eco stretch every electron, Normal balances efficiency with lively response, and Sport sharpens the throttle for quick overtakes or spirited Sunday drives.

Five ways to top up

Flexible charging removes the last excuse to stay tethered to petrol. MG offers five straightforward ways to put energy back in the pack:

  1. DC Super-Fast: 20–80% in about 50 minutes.
  2. 7.4 kW AC Fast: Full overnight in roughly 9.5 hours.
  3. Portable 15 A cable: Emergency juice from any wall socket.
  4. eHUB app access: Locate, reserve and pay at public stations.
  5. MG Charge: 1000 community chargers planned within 1000 days.

With this mix of speed and convenience, the Windsor easily adapts to apartments, suburban homes, office parks, or distant holiday routes.

DC charging for the open road

Highway driving highlights the value of DC power. Plug the CCS2 connector into a 60 kW post (45 kW on the 38 kWh model), grab a coffee, and you’ll roll out with hundreds of extra kilometres in under an hour. Charge current tapers after 80 per cent to protect cell health, but that initial surge keeps long trips moving. A simple QR scan through the eHUB app starts the session, making the stop feel as routine as a petrol refill.

AC charging for daily life

Most owners will lean on an AC wall box at home or work. The 7.4 kW unit fills the larger battery from 10 to 100 per cent in about 9.5 hours; the smaller pack needs roughly seven. Schedule charging during off-peak hours, wake up to a full battery and a lower electricity bill, and forget weekend queues at the fuel station. The weather-proof box can be mounted indoors or outdoors, and smart load balancing keeps household circuits happy.

Portable cable for peace of mind

The Windsor EV comes with a portable 15-amp cable that turns any standard socket into a lifeline. It is slow, yet invaluable on rural detours, festival road trips or overnight stays where dedicated charge points are scarce. A few hours of trickle charge can bridge the gap to the nearest fast charger without breaking a sweat.

eHUB: Your charging command centre

Managing all those options is effortless with eHUB, MG’s unified charging platform. Open the app to see live station availability, reserve a slot and even plan a route that strings chargers together automatically. Share your live location with friends or family, scan the QR code on arrival and watch progress down to the minute. Payment happens inside the app, no extra cards, tokens or subscriptions, while Apple Watch support keeps updates just a glance away.

Building the network and cutting costs

MG isn’t leaving infrastructure growth to chance. Owing to the MG Charge initiative, 1000 AC fast chargers will be available in malls, housing complexes and office parks across India within no more than 1000 days. This will further shrink detours and queues. If you are nervous about battery depreciation, you can opt for Battery-as-a-Service. You pay only for the car, not the pack, dramatically lowering the entry price and securing an assured buy-back when you’re ready for an upgrade.

Wrapping up

With up to 449 kilometres of real freedom, charging speeds to match every scenario and digital tools that handle the logistics, the MG Windsor EV makes electric driving feel almost ordinary, and that’s the point. Plug in where it suits you, drive out in silence and leave range anxiety in the rear-view mirror.
