Overnight Ukraine was hit with the largest attack in the history of the war firing more than 500 air, sea and land missiles, cruise missiles and drones forcing NATO to scramble warplanes.
The bombardment pounded around a dozen regions and the capital; Kyiv was slammed more than a dozen times which destroyed civilian infrastructure and hit railways.
The US President Donald Trump said he is “very disappointed” with Vladimir Putin as he is in Beijing at the largest military parade ever seen.
Poland’s armed forces operational command said that NATO fighters were scrambled as Russia targeted western Ukraine.

“To ensure the safety of Polish airspace, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces has activated all necessary procedures,” they said.
“In our airspace, Polish and allied aircraft are operating intensively, while ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have reached a state of maximum readiness.
“These actions are preventive in nature and are aimed at securing the airspace and protecting citizens, especially in areas adjacent to the threatened region.”
The Ukrainian Defence Forces said they destroyed 451 targets out of 526 on Wednesday evening and three missiles and 69 drones strikes hit 14 locations and aerial objects downed saw fragments fall at 14 locations.
The Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement, “According to preliminary data, as of 09:00, air defense systems shot down/suppressed 451 air targets: 430 enemy Shahed UAVs and simulator drones of various types, 14 Kalibr cruise missiles and seven Kh-101 cruise missiles.”
From 16:00 on 2 September overnight to Wednesday Russian launched a combined attack on Ukraine using air and sea missiles including drones.
The Air Force statement added, “In general, during the strike, the Air Force radio-technical troops detected and escorted 526 air attack vehicles: 502 Shahed attack UAVs and simulator drones of various types from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia, Chauda – temporarily occupied Crimea, 16 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea and eight Kh-101 cruise missiles from the airspace of the Saratov region and Krasnodar Territory.”
