Experts have sounded the alarm that Vladimir Putin is gearing up for a possible wider confrontation with NATO.
The Kremlin is issuing threats to Washington and the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) that Russia’s “force generation and technological adaptions” that the Russian defence minister Andrei Belousov made clear his ten “priority objectives.”
The objectives state that Russia is “committed to its war in Ukraine and may be preparing for a larger confrontation with NATO in the medium term.”

Last night the Danish government has contacted NATO following a “hybrid drone attack” which is suspected to have been carried out by Russia.
Last night inbound flights to Denmark’s Aalborg Airport were diverted as there was a drone incursion at the base which is also used by the military.
The country’s Minister of Defence, Troels Lund Poulsen said the drone incursion was a “hybrid attack” and a “professional actor” is clearly behind the violation.
The drones were launched locally and they did “come from a long distance,” and it is unclear if Vladimir Putin is behind this latest NATO incursion, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Russian involvement cannot be ruled out.
It is also believed that the Kremlin is making nuclear threats to influence Washington’s decision to stop trying to negotiate peace in Ukraine.
Deputy Chair of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote on X on Wednesday, “Russia’s ready comply with the START Treaty, which I signed in 2010.
“Now the Trump admin must decide.
“But adhering to the letter of the treaty isn’t enough.
The US must give up on weakening Russia with sanctions and tariffs. Otherwise, the risk of direct conflict remains high.
The ISW wrote: “Medvedev’s veiled nuclear threats directly tie US agreement to stop all its economic measures targeting Russia the main tool that the Trump administration is using to try to bring Putin to the negotiating table to end the war in Ukraine to Russia’s continued adherence to New START or readiness to agree to any future arms control treaties.
“Medvedev’s threats are part of wider Kremlin efforts to delay peace negotiations, use threats to secure Russia’s desired demands in Ukraine, secure concessions that benefit Russia, and deter the United States from supporting Ukraine.”
