Norway’s Defence Minister Tore Sandvik has warned Vladimir Putin has positioned hi nuclear fleet miles from NATO’s border in “preparation for war.”

Sandvik warned Moscow is amassing their nuclear arsenal and attack submarines are making preparations on the Kola peninsula close to NATO’s territory.

He said that Oslo is observing Russian nuclear forces strengthening their weapons within the Kola peninsula which is home for Putin’s Northern Fleet.

Sandvik explained that Putin is building his forces to be the dominant player in the Arctic to block naval routes which are used for Western military resupply routes in the event war breaks out.

Sandvik told the Telegraph, “Russia is building up on the Kola peninsula … where one of the largest arsenals of nuclear warheads in the world is located.

Norway’s Defence Minister then warned Putin’s weapons are pointing to target not only Norway but also the UK, Canada and the US.

Sandvik said, “We are the eyes and ears of Nato in this area, and we see that they’re testing new weapons, for example hypersonic missiles, and they are testing nuclear-driven torpedoes and nuclear warheads.

He added, added, “Even though Putin is losing heavily in Ukraine he has lost one million soldiers the Northern Fleet is intact. And they are developing it.”

Putin is wanting to have control over the Bear Gap which separated Norway’s mainland from the Svalbard, Moscow is also wanting to have dominance on the GIUK Gap to blockade NATO to gain access.

Sandvik said, “Putin needs to establish what is called the Bastion defence. He needs to control the Bear Gap to make sure that he can use his submarines and the Northern Fleet. And he wants to deny [Nato] allies access to the GIUK Gap.”

He added, “Putin is not interested in peace…Putin’s plan is not a stable peace with Ukraine. If he can, he will come back.”
