The sport’s most remarkable young talents collide in a blockbuster showpiece at Alexandra Palace on Saturday night in what could prove to be a contest for the ages.

Both men came through their semi-finals in contrasting styles, Littler brushing aside Ryan Searle 6-1 in another utterly ruthless display to follow victories over Krzysztof Ratajski, Rob Cross, Mensur Suljovic, David Davies and Darius Labanauskas.

Van Veen, meanwhile, was pushed hard by two-time champion Gary Anderson in a remarkable clash, with a 6-3 scoreline not fairly reflecting the true nature of a classic contest.

‘The Giant’ had already thrashed Luke Humphries after initial wins against Charlie Manby, Madars Razma, Alan Soutar and Cristo Reyes.

Saturday night promises to be a memorable occasion, with the dominant Littler, still only 18, eyeing a second successive world title on his third straight final appearance after ousting Michael van Gerwen 12 months ago to banish memories of his epic loss to Humphries in 2024.

But he certainly won’t be taking the threat of Van Veen lightly, with the 23-year-old, the new world No3 and Dutch No1, fully capable of causing an upset to add to his two youth world titles and senior European Championship success.

World Darts Championship prize money

In addition to lifting the iconic Sid Waddell Trophy and reigning supreme as the best darts player on the planet, there are also enormous financial incentives on offer for the winner of Saturday’s final.

The PDC have increased prize money across the professional darts circuit by an unprecedented £7million in 2026, with in excess of £25m up for grabs in total in their tournaments.

That includes a greatly enhanced £5m prize pot for the World Championship, which this year grew to a 128-player field, with the winner set to take home a cool £1m of that – up from £500,000, which had been the figure since 2019.

The runner-up prize money has also been doubled to £400,000, with Anderson and Searle having each made £200,000 by reaching the semi-finals.

As in 2025, main tournament sponsors Paddy Power are also paying £60,000 to any player who hits a nine-darter, as well as £60,000 to a random crowd member and to Prostate Cancer UK.

Semi-Finalists: £200,000

Quarter-Finalists: £100,000

Last 128 losers: £15,000
