Less than a week after the EV2 made its global debut, we are already getting our first look at Kia’s smallest electric SUV in action.

Here’s our first look at the Kia EV2 driving

Kia unveiled the EV2 at the Brussels Motor Show on Friday, its new entry-level EV slated to sit below the popular EV3.

The small electric SUV establishes “a new entry point to electric mobility,” Kia said during the event, with prices expected to start at around €30,000 ($35,000).

Measuring just 4,060 mm (160″) in length, the EV2 is tiny. It’s even smaller than the Volkswagen ID.3, or Chevy Bolt EV, for those in the US.

Despite its compact size, Kia claims the EV2 has “one of the most impressive interiors” of any of its vehicles, featuring a minimalist, open design, smart storage, and flexible seating. The boxy proportions and flat floor open up more passenger space.

With an upright stance, similar to the larger EV9 and EV5, Kia’s smallest electric SUV looks bigger than it actually is in person.

A production EV2 model was spotted driving in public for the first time by our friends at HealerTV in South Korea this week.

As you can see, it looks nearly identical to last year’s concept, with a bold, assertive design. The broad shoulders, short overhangs, and upright stance give it a bigger presence, more like the three-row EV9 than the EV3.

The front end has a similar look to the EV3 with Kia’s new “Digital Tiger Face” design and signature design elements, vertical Star Map lights, and a closed-off grille.

The rear looks about the same as the concept, but as HealerTV points out, it almost seems like something is missing, with a massive empty space.

Kia is building the EV2 at its Zilina plant in Slovakia. It will be available with two battery pack options: 42.2 kWh and 61 kWh, delivering “best-in-class” WLTP ranges of up to 197 miles (317 km) and 278 miles (448 km), respectively.

Production will begin with the Standard Range variant, followed by the Long Range and GT-Line models later in the year. A sporty GT version is expected to be added to the lineup in the future.

The EV2 is not expected to launch in the US. Kia is already delaying a few EVs that were scheduled to launch in the US, including the EV4, until further notice following the recent policy changes.
