According to Danish media broadcaster TV2, Denmark has sent a “substantial” amount of more soldiers to Greenland.
On Monday evening a large number of Danish combat troops will arrive at Kangerlussuaq which has been described as “a substantial contribution.”
Around 100 soldiers have already arrived in the Arctic island’s capital, Nuuk who will take part in the Arctic Endurance” military exercise.
Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that “the intention is to create a more permanent military presence,” in Greenland following Trump’s threats.
The US President Donald Trump has said he wants the “complete and total purchase” of the island, saying it is crucial for national and global security.
Greenlandic Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen said that Dane’s have being showing a “strong and dignified unity” and Denmark “will not be pressured” by Trump’s blackmail over tariffs.
Neilsen said, “We will not be pressured. We stand firm on dialogue, respect, and international law.”
In a letter leaked to Norwegian media the US President told the Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre he expressed his desire to “take control” of Greenland as he was not given the Nobel.
Norwegian newspaper VG published the leaked letter, journalist Nick Schifirn wrote on X, “Dear Jonas: Since your country decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for stopping eight wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think exclusively about peace, although it will always be dominant, but can now think about what is good and right for the United States.”
The publication was told by Prime Minister Støre the letter is real, he confirmed, “This is a message I received yesterday afternoon from President Trump.
“It came in response to a short message to President Trump from me earlier in the day, on behalf of myself and the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb.”
