Commercial truck brand Harbinger is spinning its battery technology into a standalone business, supplying other manufacturers with dependable, US-made energy storage at tariff-free prices – and iconic RV brand Airstream is their first customer.
The new line of business (LOB) was announced last week, when Airstream unveiled the new Trade Wind 27FB travel trailer featuring a new Harbinger Power System battery pack to support off-grid camping with enough juice to power air conditioning, appliances, and more.
Even better: the new Airstream Trade Wind 27FB integrates the Harbinger battery with rooftop solar power for even longer stays off the grid.
“The Airstream Trade Wind 27FB has the most capable off-grid electrical system we’ve ever offered in our travel trailer product line,” explains Airstream CEO, Bob Wheeler. “By integrating Harbinger’s industry-leading battery technology in our travel trailers, our customers can stay off-grid longer with confidence.”

The new battery packs up to 18.5 kWh of power, making it the largest battery capacity in the Airstream travel trailer lineup by a wide margin – and the rest of the setup’s specs are just as impressive:
- Increased Energy Capacity – up to 18.5 kWh, the largest battery capacity in the Airstream travel trailer lineup
- Solar-Ready – fully integrated with a 600W rooftop solar power system to efficiently harvest and store renewable energy
- High-Capacity Output – a 50 Amp service with dual air conditioners equipped with heat pumps connects directly to the fully inverted electrical system for seamless energy distribution even when far from the traditional shore power offered at a campsite
- Fully Inverted – equipped with a 5000W inverter to enable a fully inverted electrical system

Airstream will reveal pricing for its new Trade Wind model next quarter, with final specifications and dealer availability set to be announced later this spring.
