The Langham Estate has unveiled details of its transformation of 50 Eastcastle Street in Fitzrovia, central London, into 46,000 sq ft of furnished workspace.
Refurbishment of the building, which it acquired in 1997, forms part of a £50m investment programme to deliver a series of upgrades to landmark buildings across the estate in London’s West End.
Malcolm Cohen, director of leasing and marketing at the Langham Estate, said: “50 Eastcastle Street represents a significant moment for Fitzrovia Quarter and for the West End office market.
“Large, characterful floorplates of this calibre are exceptionally rare, and this redevelopment reflects our continued commitment to investing in the area’s future. As Fitzrovia Quarter evolves into one of London’s most dynamic commercial districts, we are proud to deliver workspace that meets the needs of modern occupiers while celebrating the heritage that makes this neighbourhood unique.”
The building is on the site of the former Princess’s Theatre, which opened in 1836 before closing in 1902 and being demolished in 1931.
Freddie Corlett, director in the central London leasing team at Savills who is advising on leasing the site, said: “There are very few buildings with floorplates of 25,000 sq ft-plus in W1, especially with their own private courtyard.”
The Langham Estate comprises 11.3 acres of prime commercial, retail and residential space in Fitzrovia.
The refurbishment is set to complete in the second quarter of the year.
