Lexus has officially axed the UX 300e from its lineup, its first 100% electric vehicle. The RZ is now the only EV that Toyota’s luxury brand offers, but that will change soon.

Lexus discontinues its first EV, the UX 300e electric SUV

The UX 300e went on sale in Europe and China in 2020 as the first all-electric Lexus, followed by Japan in early 2021.

While a hybrid version was sold in North America, the EV was never available. And now, it never will be. After Lexus pulled the 300e from its UK website, a company spokesperson confirmed to Auto Express that the electric SUV was “removed from sale in late-2025,” but didn’t give a reason.

It has since been removed from several European markets. With fewer than 3,400 models sold since 2021, the electric SUV never gained meaningful traction in the UK as newer, more advanced competitors hit the market.

The UX 300e, powered by a 54.3 kWh battery, had a WLTP range of just 186 miles and an outdated CHAdeMo charger.

While the hybrid (UX 300h) remains on sale, the RZ is now the only EV that Lexus sells for now. Later this year, Lexus will launch the all-electric 2026 ES for the first time, joining the current hybrid.

The 2026 Lexus ES EV will be available in two models: the front-wheel-drive (FWD) ES 350e and the all-wheel-drive (AWD) ES 500e.

In the US, Lexus expects the ES 350e to have a driving range of 300 miles (with 19″ wheels). The ES 500e has an estimated driving range of 250 miles.

On the WLTP scale, the 2026 Lexus ES 350e has an estimated driving range of up to 426 miles. The ES 500e has a WLTP range of around 379 miles.

Lexus also launched the upgraded 2026 RZ, its other electric SUV, with more range, a new F-Sport trim, and more.

While Lexus is set to introduce the electric ES this Spring, Toyota is expanding its lineup with four electric SUVs, including the three-row Highlander EV, set to go on sale in the US by the end of 2026. In Europe, Toyota’s electric vehicle lineup will include the updated bZ4X, C-HR+, and Urban Cruiser SUVs.

With the new electric SUVs arriving, Toyota is offering a $5,000 customer cash discount and 0% APR financing on its new models to kick things off. You can use the links below to find deals in your area.
