U.S. stocks open higher Thursday as investors weighed fresh data showing wholesale inflation fell in March. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA was up 0.2% soon after the opening bell, while the S&P 500 SPX gained 0.3% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP rose 0.6%, according to FactSet data, at last check. The producer-price index, a measure of wholesale inflation, fell 0.5% in March, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Thursday. That marked the biggest drop in almost three years. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had forecast no change in the producer-price index.
