he London Marathon takes place today with the capital’s showpiece sporting event featuring the curtain call on home soil for Mo Farah.
Viewers can expect all the usual festivities from a mix of serious competitiveness to running for a great cause and a good old-fashioned sense of having a go.
Around 45,000 participants are expected across 26.2 miles with a huge crowd turning out across the course, with this year also seeing the threat of an eco protest disrupting the event.
While home favourites Eilish McColgan is out in her bid to win the women’s crown, the likes of Sifan Hassan, Brigid Kosgei and Peres Jepchirchir will be fancying their chances of a world-record time.
