Total income tax receipts in a 12-month period have exceeded £250bn for the first time, say leading tax and advisory firm Blick Rothenberg.

Joe Neal, a manager at the firm said: “This represents a 11.21% increase on the prior 12 months.”

He added: “The combination of freezing tax bands and high wage growth (to try to keep pace with inflation) has resulted in taxpayers being pushed into higher tax rates and losing a higher proportion of their salaries.”

Joe said: “With the rate bands being frozen until April 2028, we expect that this figure will continue to rise and individuals tax burden to increase.”
