said Friday that most of the damage from Wednesday’s tornado that ripped through its Rocky Mount, N.C., manufacturing facility was to the warehouse, which stores raw materials, finished medicines and packaging supplies. The pharmaceutical giant is working to move products to other nearby sites and to identify sources to replace raw materials and supplies damaged in the tornado, the company said in a release. Pfizer said it is also looking at alternative manufacturing locations for production. “After an initial assessment, there does not appear to be any major damage to the medicine production areas,” the release said. The Rocky Mount site, which is closed while the damaged is assessed, produced nearly a quarter of all Pfizer sterile injectables, such as anesthesia and therapeutics, accounting for nearly 8% of all such medicines used in U.S. hospitals, according to the company. Pfizer stock was up 1.6% on Friday.
