Donald Trump remains the clear 4/9 favourite to win the Republican nomination for the 2024 US election despite his upcoming arrest on Thursday in Georgia as part of the attempt to overturn his 2020 election defeat.
Republican contenders to be on the 2024 ballot met in their first 2024 presidential debate and Vivek Ramaswamy won praise from commentators and is the new rival to Trump, trailing him in the betting at 9/1 to be the GOP candidate next year having been 12/1 at the beginning of August.
Joe Biden is still the slight 9/5 favourite to win a second term, with Trump 13/5 to regain control of the White House.
Betfair Exchange: 2024 US election winner

Betfair Exchange: 2024 US election Republican nomination

Betfair Exchange spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “There is little stopping Donald Trump in his charge to be on the ballot for a third successive election in 2024, according to the odds which remain unaltered ahead of his arrest in Georgia.
“Trump is the clear 4/9 favourite to win the GOP nod, but he has a new rival opponent closing the gap in the betting with Vivek Ramaswamy now 9/1, having been 12/1.
“In fact, Ramaswamy has replaced Ron DeSantis as Trump’s biggest Republican rival following a performance that impressed commentators during the first party debate.
“Once Trump sees off the rivals in his party he will have to overturn the odds in the main election race as Joe Biden is the 9/5 favourite to secure a second term with Trump trailing at 13/5.”
