Counter-intelligence agents from Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) have said that they have conducted a “very spectacular” drone attack on the Kursk Russian airbase.
The SBU reported on Monday that over the weekend Ukrainian attack drones hit four Russian fighter jets and the explosions were “very spectacular.”
Russian Su-30 fighters, a MiG-29 aircraft, two Pantsyr air defence systems and S-300 radars were destroyed in the attack which took place on 26 and 27 August.

The SBU told the New Voice of Ukraine that the “precise results of the strikes and the number of casualties and wounded will be known soon.”
However, the Russian Defence Ministry claimed to have intercepted the Ukrainian attack drones and destroyed them.
Two Ukrainian drones were also fired into Crimea and Russia claims their air-defences shot them down.
The Russian-appointed head of the region, Sergei Aksyonov said that one drone was “downed” in the northern part of the Black Sea and the other in the West of Crimea.
Near to Moscow Russian air-defence also shot down a drone in the early hours of Monday morning.
Moscow’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said no casualties were reported and the airport in the capital was closed.
Tass news agency reported that flights from Moscow Airport were temporarily suspended and airports in Domodedovo and Vnukovo were also affected.
