Labour’s lead over the Conservative Party stands at 16pts, according to the latest voting intention poll from Savanta.

The poll, conducted over the last weekend (1-3 September), sees Labour on 45% of the vote, a one-point decrease from the week before, and the Conservatives on 29%, the same vote share as the week prior.

The Liberal Democrats remain on double digits, with 10% of the vote share.

Commenting on the findings, Chris Hopkins, Political Research Director at Savanta said, “Little change in the voting intention as we enter September is to be expected, given MPs have only just returned from recess and the summer passed without major incident.

“Concerns over RAAC appear the freshest thing to affect the government, but it’s unlikely to make major waves in terms of public opinion.

“Ultimately, only a minority view the Conservatives as competent at this stage, and therefore further examples of failings while they’ve been in office is unlikely to change many minds.”
