Russia and Ukraine have been hit with unusually intense missile and drone attacks deep behind enemy lines over the past four days.

Explosions has rocked Russian logistics sites, air bases and command posts in Crimea, Krasnodar region, and also near to Moscow this week.

The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in their intelligence report on Friday, “This is a sensitive location because it hosts specialist military aircraft as well as VIP transport for Russian leaders.

“Reported damage to a COOT special mission aircraft is particularly relevant.”

British intelligence has said that over the past week, Vladimir Putin has repeatedly carried out long-range strikes at various locations in Ukraine, which “partially in response to the incidents in Russia and Crimea.

“With the ground battle relatively static, each side is seeking advantage by striking through their adversary’s strategic depth.”

Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Agency (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported the bombing of two AN-148 and IL-20 aircraft and a MI-28n helicopter at Chkalovsky airfield in Moscow region by unknown saboteurs on 18 September.

The GUR reported, “The event caused a big hysteria in the higher military corridors — government planes, so-called ‘Doomsday planes’ and special planes (reconnaissance planes) are based at the airfield.”

On Wednesday Ukrainian forces attacked a Russian Black Sea fleet command post near Sevastopol in Crimea.

Sevastopol is Crimea’s largest city and in recent weeks Ukrainian forces have launched many drone and missile attacks in the area.

Ukrainian intelligence call the attacks as a “schedule of works” in striking Russian military sites in occupied Crimea and other areas of their country.

The attack took place near to Verkhniosadove, Sevastopol, the Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) said.
