The Moroccan state-owned airline Royal Air Moroc have announced on Thursday evening that they have cancel all flights to and from Israel.

Royal Air Moroc has cancel all flights from Tel Avivi from 19 October until 30 October and after that date the airline will then make a review based on the situation at the time.

In a statement the Moroccan state-owned airline said, “due to the current situation in Israel.”

On 11 October a British Airways flight was forced to divert as they were heading to Tel Aviv and Israeli airport authority warned that there was a “security threat” near to Ben Gurion Airport at the time.

The Palestinian militant group Hamas had fired rockets in the air near to Tel Aviv at the time the BA flight was diverted.

The Al Qassam Brigades said it “bombarded” the airport in response to civilians being targeted by Israelis forces.

British Airways said in a statement, “Following the latest assessment of the situation we’re suspending our flights to and from Tel Aviv.

“We’re contacting customers booked to travel to or from Tel Aviv to apologise for the inconvenience and offer options including a full refund and rebooking with another airline or with British Airways at a later date.

“We continue to monitor the situation in the region closely.”

Wizz Air and Virgin Atlantic also cancelled flights to and from Tel Aviv and made changes to their schedule for safety reasons.

US carrier Delta Airlines, United Airlines and American Airlines had either suspended or diverted their flights as fighting grips Israel.

In a statement, United said its flights would remain suspended “until conditions allow them to resume”.

Delta said flights “have been cancelled into this week.”

A spokesperson from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) said: “The Foreign Office advises against all but essential travel to Israel and if you are due to travel imminently you should discuss your options with your travel agent or tour operator.

“If you’re travelling on a package and your holiday has been cancelled due to the advice change, you can either defer your date of travel, travel to an alternative destination or receive a full refund.

“If you’re travelling independently you will need to discuss your options with your airline and accommodation providers.”

A Wizz Air spokesperson said: “Due to the situation in Israel, we have cancelled flights to and from Tel Aviv until further notice.

“We are continuing to monitor the situation closely and are in touch with the relevant authorities.

“The safety and security of our passengers and crew is our number one priority and all affected passengers will be contacted via email or text.”
