The Scottish government housing registers team has officially endorsed Propertymark Qualifications’ SCQF Level 6 Certificate in Property Agency (Lettings).

Following a thorough review, the Scottish government concluded that the qualification sufficiently addresses the scope of work required by current regulations and meets the attainment standards necessary for letting agents registering with the Scottish government’s letting agent framework. Propertymark Qualifications SCQF Level 6 Certificate in Property Agency (Lettings) is now listed on the mygov.scot website.

The qualification allows those aspiring to be, or currently, property agents to tailor their learning experience to suit specific roles in sales or lettings in Scotland. To earn the qualification, those registering must complete four units based on the nation of practice and selected area of expertise.

The first two units, mandatory for all learners, cover essential knowledge of property professional roles and practices. The third unit addresses general law and practice for the relevant region, while the fourth unit focuses on a chosen specialty, such as sales or lettings.

A unique feature of this qualification is its Recognition of Prior Achievement (RPA) policy. For example, after completing a lettings qualification, only one additional unit is needed for those pursuing a residential sles qualification in the same nation.

Propertymark Qualifications recognises relevant SCQF Level 6 qualifications earned within the past five years (Level 3 in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland) and provides this supportive route of achievement. Successful achievement and certification also supports eligibility for Propertymark memberships to other disciplines and therefore gaining additional benefits, enhanced support, resources, and, of course, those well sought after post-nominals.

Gary Elliott, head of Propertymark Academy, said: “For those pursuing the Propertymark Qualifications SCQF Level 6 Certificate in Property Agency (Lettings), this programme equips you with the expertise needed to thrive in Scotland’s lettings sector, establishing your reputation and elevating standards of professionalism within your firm. We’re thrilled to see the Scottish government housing registers team approve this qualification.”
