Assassination attempt made on Putin’s life as Ukraine launched two drone attacks to blow up the Kremlin – London Business News | London Wallet

Moscow has accused Kyiv of attempting to assassinate Vladimir Putin by launching two “unmanned aerial vehicles on the Kremlin” warning that there will “retaliatory measures where and when it sees fit” in Ukraine.

The Office of the President of Russia has issued a statement on Wednesday afternoon accusing Kyiv of the “terrorist attack” to kill the Russian leader.

In the statement they said the attack took place at 02.35 local time or 11.35am UK time and that “scattered fragments of a Ukrainian drone” where found in the grounds of the Kremlin.

Footage of the attack was shared on social media showing the drone being shot down and smoke can be seen on the roof of the Kremlin.

Ukrainian internal affairs advisor Anton Geraschenko reposted some of the videos if the drone attack.

He wrote on Telegram, “It happened! Two drones were aimed at the Kremlin.”

Making reference to the Victory Day Parade which will be held in Moscow this week, Geraschenko wrote, “We will say that on May 9, participants of the parade in Moscow will be given free diapers.”

The statement which was issued today says, “Tonight, the Kyiv regime made an attempt to strike with unmanned aerial vehicles on the Kremlin residence of the President of the Russian Federation.

“Two unmanned aerial vehicles were aimed at the Kremlin. As a result of timely actions taken by the military and special services with the use of radar warfare systems, the vehicles were put out of action. As a result of their fall and the scattering of fragments on the territory of the Kremlin, there were no victims or material damage.

“We regard these actions as a planned terrorist act and an attempt on the President, carried out on the eve of Victory Day, the May 9th Parade, at which the presence of foreign guests is also planned.

“As a result of this terrorist act, the President was not injured. The schedule of its work has not changed, it continues as usual. The Russian side reserves the right to take retaliatory measures where and when it sees fit.”

The British Ministry of Defence issued a warning over Russia’s constant use of “narrative laundering,” last month that the Kremlin republishes misinformation.

The Kremlin are peddling through associated state channels the disinformation in an attempt that Western media will report this hoping to damage support for Ukraine.

The warning said, “Russian state actors present manipulated narratives in both orchestrated and opportunistic ways.

“Their current priorities almost certainly include discrediting the Ukrainian government and reducing international support for Ukraine.”

The Kremlin’s claim over the assassination attempt should be seen as a possible disinformation programme.
