Belgium’s deputy Prime Minister Petra De Sutter has called on the government to impose “sanctions” on Israel and to investigate bombings on hospitals in Gaza.

She accused Israel of not caring about global demand for a ceasefire and said that the constant bombings in the Gaza Strip is “inhumane.”

The war has now turned into one the bloodiest and deadly episodes for many years amid the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict in the region.

She told Nieuwsblad newspaper, “It is time for sanctions against Israel. The rain of bombs is inhumane.

“It is clear that Israel does not care about the international demands for a ceasefire.”

De Sutter also called for an import ban on products from Israel which should also extend to politicians, soldiers committing war crimes and violent settlers.

She said that they should also be banned from entering the European Union and has called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague to investigate war crimes that may have been committed in Gaza.

She has called on money being sent to Hamas to be cut, De Sutter added, “This is a terrorist organisation. Terror costs money and there must be sanctions on the companies and people who provide Hamas with money.”

The Gazan Health Ministry said on Wednesday the death toll has now reached 10,569 and 4,324 children and 2,823 women have been killed due to Israeli strikes and more than 26,000 have been wounded.
