Berlin has given the Kremlin until midnight on Monday to agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine, Germany has warned that if no agreement is made by this time, then severe sanctions will start against Russia.

Government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius said during a briefing, Tagesschau said Germany’s ultimatum expires at midnight as Russia has ruled out an unconditional 30-day ceasefire.

“The clock is ticking, we still have 12 hours until the end of this day,” Kornelius warned Moscow.

Bild reported Kornelius saying, “If Moscow does not accept the demand, preparations will be set in motion in Brussels for fresh sanctions.”

He added, “The Ukrainian president has made it clear that he is prepared to agree to a ceasefire.

“He has made major concessions in the last two weeks. It is now up to the Russian side to respond to these proposals and agree to serious political negotiations.”

The Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that this “ultimatum language” towards Russia is “unacceptable.”

Peskov said on Monday, “This kind of ultimatum language is unacceptable for Russia. It’s not appropriate. You cannot talk to Russia in this language.”

A source to the Ukrainian Presidential office told the Kyiv Independent on Monday that Ukraine is “ready for all options” as there could be a possible meeting in Istanbul later this week between the Russian leader and President Volodymyr Zelensky.

President Zelensky has said he “himself” is ready to meet face to face with Putin in Istanbul, Turkey.

Zelensky said, “There is no point in prolonging the killings. And I will wait for Putin on Thursday in Turkey.

“We expect a ceasefire from tomorrow, this proposal is on the table.

“A complete and unconditional ceasefire long-term, to provide the necessary basis for diplomacy could bring peace much closer.”

The Kyiv Independent asked Zelensky will he head out to Istanbul even if Russia will not support a ceasefire or if the Russian tyrant does not attend.

A source old the media outlet, “We are ready for all options. But of course, we are separately waiting for a response on the ceasefire.”

The US President Donald Trump said on Sunday, “Putin… doesn’t want to have a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine, but rather wants to meet on Thursday, in Turkey, to negotiate a possible end to the bloodbath.

“Ukraine should agree to this, immediately.”

“At least they will be able to determine whether or not a deal is possible, and if it is not, European leaders, and the US, will know where everything stands, and can proceed accordingly!” he added.
