helsea are yet to make a bid for Moises Caicedo, Brighton have confirmed, amid intense interest in the midfielder.

The Ecuador international is reportedly of interest at Stamford Bridge as manager Graham Potter looks for a reunion with his former player.

Caicedo himself has made no secret of his desire to work again with Potter at Chelsea. In September, he said: They are one of the best teams in the world and nobody would turn down an offer from Chelsea or any other club like that. It’d be a dream … to succeed there.”

Caicedo has two and a half years to run on his current contract on the south coast, meaning that Brighton are under no pressure to sell amid reports of a £75million asking price.

Speaking to CBS Sports, Brighton chief executive Paul Barber said: “I’m pleased to say we haven’t had any [bids]. Maybe [Chelsea] haven’t got my email because I haven’t seen any.”

Referencing Potter made about Caicedo’s value while still Brighton manager, Barber said: “I’m not sure £42m will even include the boots now, maybe just the laces. But joking aside, every player’s value is ultimately determined by the market.

“Graham’s comments were part in jest but part serious because Moises has been an exceptional player for us. Since he came to the Premier League, he has developed all the time.

“He’s a young man with a great attitude, fantastic work ethic and a very nice human being off the pitch. So all those things contribute to the value of a footballer should it come to that moment to sell.”
