A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 12.08pm to a collision involving a car and a building on Heathcote Street in Kidsgrove. Two ambulances attended the scene. Upon arrival we found three patients from the car. Two women who were passengers and a man who was the driver were assessed by ambulance staff.
“They had sustained potentially serious injuries. The driver and first passenger were conveyed to Royal Stoke Hospital for further assessment. The second passenger declined further treatment from ambulance staff and received self care advice before being discharged at the scene.”
A Staffordshire Police spokesman commented: “We were called at 12.10pm today (Friday 22 August) to Market Street, Kidsgrove, Newcastle-under-Lyme, following reports of a single-vehicle collision.
“Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and found a white Vauxhall had collided with a building. The driver and passenger, both in their 70s, were taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Recovery was arranged for the vehicle.”
Samuel Makepeace was forced to close temporarily following the collision.
A Samuel Makepeace branch spokesman added: “A vehicle drove into the front of our Kidsgrove office causing significant damage to the entrance. It was a real shock for everyone and naturally left staff and clients very shaken.
“We understand the car was being driven by an elderly couple and our thoughts are with them. We sincerely hope they are OK after what must have been a very frightening experience. Two of our team members – Kate and Ella – were in the office at the time and while understandably shaken they are safe and well.
“The incident has caused disruption to our usual Friday business, particularly with a number of completions due today, but our team is working hard to minimise any delays. Our Milton office remains open and fully operational and we will continue to support our clients from there while repairs are made in Kidsgrove.
“We would like to thank the emergency services and the local community for their swift response and support.”
