The Jobs Minister has said the Chancellor will make cuts to benefits as Rachel Reeves makes final preparations for tax rises in her Autumn Budget.

The Chancellor is looking to save ban estimated £3 billion in benefit savings in her autumn budget.

On Friday morning the Employment Minister Alison McGovern told Times Radio, “We will not go ahead with the Tory plan because that was theirs.

“We will need to make savings like all departments but we will bring forward our own reforms.

“The first thing that we need to do is our changes to the support that is offered to people through job centres.”

The government will work with GPs and bring in job coaches to get people back to work.

Also there is around 400,000 who are signed off on long term sick, these people will be assessed and will be prepared for employment by 2028 to 2029.

A Government spokesperson said, “We have always said that the Work Capability Assessment is not working and needs to be reformed or replaced alongside a proper plan to support disabled people to work.

“We will deliver savings through our own reforms, including genuine support to help disabled people into work.”
