The Reds made it five consecutive wins with a 1-0 win at Anfield, Mohamed Salah scoring from the spot in the first-half as he got himself on the scoresheet for the eight home match in a row across all competitions
It moves Liverpool to within four points of Manchester United in fourth, but Erik ten Hag’s side have two games in hand and the Reds have more than likely left themselves too much to do in their bid for Champions League football next season.
However, they are on their best run of form of the season and kept their first clean sheet in over a month, having conceded seven goals across their previous four victories.
“Alisson was close to crying with a clean sheet,” Klopp told Premier League Productions.
“It’s pretty rare for us this season. It’s very nice, especially for him.”
Fulham had their moments to equalise in the second-half, with Carlo Vinicius brilliantly denied late on by Alisson, but Klopp was impressed overall with the performance his players produced against Marco Silva’s side.
“Super strong opponent, I can’t respect any more what Marco is doing there,” Klopp said.
“I saw big fight, really good spirit and the boys who came on were flying into the challenges. Of course we can control the game in these moments better but we can improve. We have played much worse in the past.”
Klopp has been reluctant to discuss Liverpool’s top-four hopes after recent wins, stating that there was no point discussing something out of their control, and after this victory captain Jordan Henderson admitted it was unlikely Man United or Newcastle would be caught.
However, Klopp still believes the strong form late in the season could prove to be important for his side.
“That’s what I said, we have to try to do something we can use,” the Liverpool boss said.
“Something we can build on in the next season. That’s exactly what we did and I’m pleased with that.”
