Carter Jonas strengthens senior team in Leeds

James Mohammed

Carter Jonas has appointed James Mohammed as a partner within its planning and development division, strengthening senior leadership across the firm’s Development North team in Leeds.

Mohammed brings over 18 years’ experience in property and residential development and joins Carter Jonas from JLL, where he was head of residential development for Yorkshire and the North East.

Mohammed’s appointment further supports Vision 2030, Carter Jonas’s five-year growth strategy, and builds on the strategic restructure of the firm’s planning and development division in 2025,.

At Carter Jonas, Mohammed will work alongside John Webster and Daniel Sherwood within the Development North leadership team, drawing on his significant experience across development consultancy and agency to provide strategic advice to clients across the North. His role will focus on strategic development advice, providing consultancy across development agreements, agency and delivery, as Carter Jonas continues to strengthen its planning and development offering across the region

Mohammed said: “Vision 2030 gives us a clear sense of direction, and recent team developments make this a great time to come on board. I look forward to working with colleagues in Leeds and across the wider business to support clients, bringing together local insight and the strength of Carter Jonas’s national network.”

Colin Brown, head of planning and development, Carter Jonas, said: “James brings deep knowledge of northern residential development markets and a practical, commercial focused approach shaped by many years of advising clients across both the public and private sectors. He has a strong track record in building effective relationships with landowners, developers and investors, and his experience across consultancy and agency will undoubtedly be a real asset to our Development North team.”
