The Danish government has contacted NATO following a “hybrid drone attack” which is suspected to have been carried out by Russia.

Last night inbound flights to Denmark’s Aalborg Airport were diverted as there was a drone incursion at the base which is also used by the military.

Danish Police said the drone had lights on, they said in a statement, “Drones have been observed near Aalborg airport, and the airspace is closed. The police are present and investigating further.”

Nordjyllands Police posted on X, “Drones have been observed near Aalborg Airport and the airspace is closed. The police are present and investigating further.”

Aalborg Airport is currently closed due to drones in the airspace,” Flightradar announced in an X post.

Three inbound flights have been diverted to other airports.

It remains unclear as to whether Article 4 has been triggered, when a NATO country raises fears for their territorial sovereignty.

The country’s Minister of Defence, Troels Lund Poulsen said the drone incursion was a “hybrid attack” and a “professional actor” is clearly behind the violation.

The drones were launched locally and they did “come from a long distance,” and it is unclear if Vladimir Putin is behind this latest NATO incursion, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Russian involvement cannot be ruled out.

The drones observed in Denmark this night were at multiple sites throughout the country – including a military site…🧐🤔🛸🛸🛸🛸🛸🛸🛸🛸🛸

Poulsen said in a statement, “There can be no doubt that everything points to this being the work of a professional actor when we are talking about such a systematic operation in so many locations at virtually the same time… This is what I would define as a hybrid attack using different types of drones.”
