Dyson Energy Services, a leading provider of energy efficiency solutions, is pleased to announce the successful award of a prestigious contract with South Lakes Housing, as part of the Cumbria Consortium.

The contract, valued at £7 million, spans a two-year period and positions Dyson Energy Services as the trusted delivery partner for the retrofit scheme.

The retrofit project, funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Wave two, aims to enhance energy efficiency in the social sector and contribute to the government’s target of achieving an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of ‘C’ for all homes by 2030.

Dyson Energy Services will employ its expertise and extensive experience to retrofit a total of 905 properties with a range of measures, including solar PV, cavity wall insulation upgrades, loft insulation, heating upgrades, and energy-efficient lighting, all compliant with the rigorous PAS 2035 standards.

Residents of the treated properties can look forward to a multitude of benefits resulting from the retrofit project.

These include savings on energy bills, a reduced carbon footprint, and homes that are futureproofed against rising energy costs. By aligning with the government’s broader agenda to meet net-zero targets, Dyson Energy Services will actively contribute to lower carbon emissions, helping create a sustainable and greener future.

In line with the contract, Dyson Energy Services are thrilled to announce the opening of a new unit in Kendal.

This strategic investment reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional service throughout the contract’s duration and beyond. Moreover, Dyson Energy Services is dedicated to fostering local talent and creating green job opportunities within the community. As part of this initiative, the company will collaborate with Kendal College to educate learners in relation to the energy efficiency industry and the vast opportunities within the green sector.

Gayle Salt Director of Curriculum at Kendal College said, ‘The working collaboration between Dyson Energy Services and Kendal College will enable the curriculum to be responsive to the green skills agenda and the skill development required for future practice within the energy sector. Working closely together will enable fantastic opportunities for our learners and apprentices in terms of employability opportunities and career progression.’

“Dyson Energy Services is honoured to be chosen as the delivery partner for the South Lakes Housing retrofit scheme,” said Jamie Crane, Head of Business Development at Dyson Energy Services.

“With over 40 years of experience in the energy efficiency sector, Dyson is committed to delivering high-quality solutions that benefit both residents and the environment. This contract win aligns with our continued growth strategy and dedication to supporting the government’s ambitious net-zero targets.”

Richard Hayes, Director of Homes at South Lakes Housing said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Dyson Energy Services on our target to increase the energy efficiency performance of our homes, five years ahead of legislation, which will mean warmer and more affordable homes for our customers to live in. The community will stand to benefit too through Dyson’s investment in a local base, recruiting local talent and providing opportunities for learners at Kendal College”.

This contract will not only strengthens Dyson Energy Services’ position as a market leader but also serves as a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to local communities and economies. By investing in a new depot and creating green jobs, Dyson Energy Services will contribute to the local economy while leaving a lasting positive impact on the South Lakes region.
