Chief Executive Elon Musk’s use near the company’s Texas factory, has sparked a probe at the EV maker, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. The project has drawn scrutiny from Tesla lawyers and board members, and after a large order of specialized glass, Tesla board members set out to find whether company resources had been misused and whether Musk had a role, the newspaper reported. Among the questions asked as part of Tesla’s internal inquiry was how much employee time had been spent on the project, one person told the Journal. The outcome of Tesla’s investigation and the status of the project couldn’t be learned, and Musk and board members, including Chair Robyn Denholm didn’t respond to requests for comment. Tesla moved its headquarters to Austin from Palo Alto, Calif., in 2021. Tesla shares have gained 117% so far this year, compared with gains of about 15% for the S&P 500 index.
