In a candid and emotional interview, estate agent Sanjay Gandhi from Doncaster opens up about his life-changing journey since being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Sanjay’s story is a testament to the power of courage, support, and the importance of preparedness. See video below.

Eight weeks ago, Sanjay began experiencing persistent headaches and loss of focus, which led him to seek medical attention. His world was turned upside down on 9 May when an MRI revealed the presence of chordoma tumours in his brain – an extremely rare condition affecting only one in 800,000 people in the UK annually.

The shock and fear that accompanied the diagnosis was overwhelming for Sanjay and his wife, Anita. They found themselves grappling with emotions of terror, devastation, and uncertainty about what the future held for them and their family.

However, amidst the darkness, Sanjay found inspiration from a documentary about another cancer survivor, Sarah Beeney. Her decision to share her journey with the world inspired him to do the same. He recognised the power of sharing his experiences to help others going through similar challenges and create awareness about rare conditions like chordoma tumours.

Sanjay’s professional life also underwent significant changes due to his diagnosis. As a business owner, he had to learn to let go of the reins and trust in his capable team to manage the company’s operations.

Through trust and development, Sanjay has empowered his team to take charge while he focuses on his health. In the video, there is also an interview with his wife Anita and ops director Frances. His experience highlighted the importance of having adequate health insurance and critical illness policies.

Sanjay emphasised the necessity of regularly reviewing these policies to ensure they align with changing circumstances. Sanjay’s final thoughts were centered on the invaluable support from family and true friends during difficult times. He encouraged everyone to cherish their loved ones and appreciate the significance of even the smallest gestures of care and concern.

While Sanjay’s journey ahead remains uncertain, his determination to stay positive and help others is unwavering. He acknowledges that life can take unexpected turns at any age, urging everyone to be prepared, both practically and emotionally.

Sanjay Gandhi’s story is a powerful reminder that strength can be found in vulnerability, and sharing our struggles can inspire and support others in their own battles. Through this journey, Sanjay shows us the importance of embracing life with courage, love, and hope, even during the darkest of times.

Sanjay has been helped by the Bone Cancer Trust. Help the Charity be a beacon of hope for those fighting bone cancer. Your generous contribution to the Bone Cancer Trust will empower patients and their families with the resources they need to face this rare condition head-on, offering them strength and support during their toughest times – Just Giving Page.
