The European Union are strongly urging all members to prepare for three days of survival kits as there are growing concerns that global war could breakout.
The European Union crisis management commissioner Hadja Lahbib said this is part of a wider “preparedness strategy.”
EU leaders have constantly warned they fear Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine could lead to a global war.
Commissioner Lahbib told AFP, “Knowing what to do in case of danger, gaming out different scenarios, that’s also a way to prevent people from panicking.”
She added, “All of this comes in addition to national strategies.”
Some officials in the EU are advising for handbooks to be sent out to households and some countries in the bloc have already prepared their citizens.
Sweden distribute pamphlets to households called “If Crisis or War Comes” and Finland told their population to prepare for “incidents and crises.”
Households are being advised to stock up on matches, torches with spare batteries, ID documents, tinned food waterproof pouches, medication and stock up at least three litres of water per person per day which is all part of their “resilience” kit.
