EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said on Saturday, that more than 27,000 Ukrainian troops have already received training.
Borrell said it is clear that investing in Ukraine’s defense also means investing in the wider European security.
The EU will continue to finance the supply of modern military equipment with the priorities identified by Ukraine.
Borrell said in a video address to the Defense Industries Forum, that the EU also does a lot of work on military training.

Borrell said that recently the EU has increased the target of training to 40,000 soldiers in 2024.
The EU’s ammunition production initiative is paying off, adding that immediate deliveries from the warehouse have been made and now the EU is focusing on joint procurement of weaponry.
The European Defense Agency signed nine framework contracts with industry for the joint procurement of 155mm ammunition.
Borrell added that the EU will produce more and more ammunition and they will continue to support Ukraine.
On a visit to Odesa Borrell said on Saturday, “Odesa is a beautiful historic city. It should be in the headlines for its vibrant culture and spirit. Instead, it marks the news as frequent target of Putin’s war.
“The EU supports the stabilization of sites impacted by Russia’s barbarically destruction.”
He added, “A year has passed since Russia’s illegal annexation of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson. Ukraine has every right to defend itself against the Russian aggression and regain full control of its territory.
“The EU stands with Ukraine for as long as it takes.”
