There are fears across European leaders there is a “possibility” that the US President “may betray Ukraine” over territory to appease Vladimir Putin, which will be seen as reward for his aggression.
German news outlet Der Spiegel reported, the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the French President Emmanuel Macron believe that Washington may betray Kyiv.
European leaders spoke with President Volodymyr Zelensky and the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Der Spiegel quoted Macron saying in the call, “There is a possibility that the United States may betray Ukraine on the territory issue by failing to provide clarity on security guarantees”
Merz told the Ukrainian President that “the next few days require extreme caution.

The German Chancellor warned Zelensky “They are playing games with both you and us,” making reference to the US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Journalists have suggest that the Finnish President Alexander Stubb has a good friendship with Donald Trump and warned European leaders “must not leave Ukraine and Zelensky alone” with Witkoff and Kushner.
The NATO chief added, “I agree with Alexander, we must protect Volodymyr.”
The Élysée Palace told Spiegel, “The President did not use such wording,” but stopped short of saying what was said.
The German Chancellor’s office declined to comment on “circulating fragments of the conversation.”
According to The Guardian, almost half of Europeans believe that the US President is Europe’s enemy and almost 48% believe Trump is hostile.
In Belgium 62% believe Trump is an enemy of Europe, in France this figure is 57%, Croatia 37% and Poland remains at 19%.
However, despite these bombshell figure Europeans understand the importance of relations with Washington.
The survey found that 51% of people believe there is a risk of war with Russia in the future, the largest fears of all-out war was in Poland with 77% of Poles believing conflict is coming.
