eXp UK has announced the launch of their ‘Teams’ initiative, designed to help agents expand their business, allowing them to create their own brand and team of self-employed agents working within that brand, still ‘powered by eXp’.

The company says the initiative is already proving popular amongst existing eXp UK agents, with nine agents already utilising the ‘Teams’ model to expand.

The agents who have taken advantage of creating a ‘Team’, include, Chris Abraham, Kirsty Hodgson, Jaine Whitfield, Darren Beckett, Claire Bilton, Amie Brooks, Alistair Harper, Helen Moore & Mark Buchanan

Each agent who runs a ‘Team’, continues to partner with eXp, but is able to recruit other agents to operate under their own ‘Team’ brand.

In exchange for helping those new agents in their team, with things like lead generation, office space and mentoring, the team leader can expect to receive a suggested 25% of the commission from any business that the agents in their ‘Team’ generates.

eXp UK believes this is the next step in the evolution of the self-employed model in the UK, allowing those solo agents who succeed at eXp, to continue to grow their business beyond it being just a ‘personal brand’.

eXp UK says this ‘next step’ is not a ‘complete pivot’ for the brand, with all eXp UK agents having full power over which path they might wish to follow – building a ‘Team’ with eXp UK, or the traditional self-employed model of building a personal brand with eXp UK.

The ‘Teams’ initiative is currently in its infancy, but said to have already gained a high degree of interest, with eXp UK expecting to have 50 teams in place over the next few months, according to the head of the business, Adam Day.

He commented: “We’re extremely excited about the next step in the evolution of the self-employed model, as well as the value it will deliver to a great number of our agents.

“We’ve long realised that the self-employed model needs to be about choice and that there would be a number of agents who would outgrow their position in the market as a ‘solo agent’. We wanted to ensure that when this time came, there was room for them to continue their business growth and a platform they could continue to utilise when doing so.

“Teams allows them this freedom, maintaining control of their own brand with the additional benefit of a structured framework and all the other benefits of eXp UK, while helping them increase in size, and bringing other self employed agents into their own brand.

“At the same time, it presents a great opportunity for those considering a move to the self-employed model but who aren’t sure about making the leap in its entirety. With ‘Teams’, they can become part of a well established agent’s business, which can make it easier to get set up as a self employed agent with coaching, mentoring and lead generation that the Team Lead can give them, providing a ‘best of both worlds’ option.

“It’s something I was very aware that we would have to evolve when we first started eXp in the UK, and so I’ve been studying how ‘Teams’ works in the US over the last few years. It’s very common for ‘solo’ agents to go on and create their own ‘brands’ that continue to work with eXp in the US. We’ve simply followed the blueprint which is used stateside, but adjusted it, as we have always done, to accommodate the demands & culture of the UK market place.”
