Following the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump the Secret Service created a human shield to protect the presidential hopeful.

Once the all clear order was given they stood Trump up to extract him to an armoured car as he had been shot by the 20-year old shooter Thomas Mathew Crooks.

Crooks was shot dead by a Secret Service sniper who was hiding on a nearby roof which overlooked the rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Trump was stood up by his security detail and he defiantly raised his fist and shouted, “fight, fight, fight,” as blood could be seen on his ear and face.

A historian and terrorism expert Professor Anthony Glees told the Daily Star, “That’s not the way most normal people react when they’ve been shot,” historian and terrorism expert.

“Most of us would be vomiting.”

On Monday Trump said that “I’m supposed to be dead” after he survived the assassination attempt which killed one and has left two critically ill.

A defiant Trump said that he feels he has been saved “by luck or by God” as he recounted the moment he was shot.

The Presidential hopeful told the New York Post the attempt on his life was a “very surreal experience” and “I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead.”

Trump said the doctor at the hospital said he “never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle.”

Trump has said that surviving the failed assassination attempt was caused by a “divine intervention.”

The terrorism expert said, “I think he regards himself as a messianic figure, and his closest supporters do too.

“The blunt picture of Trump with blood on his white shirt, shaking his fist in defiance and shouting fight, fight, fight.

“That’s a religious picture as much as it’s a religious one. It’s almost revolutionary.”

Prof Glees said the thing that scares him the most is that a picture has now been created of a “reborn Trump.”

“I think what’s terrifying is that Trump’s followers will take this as a ‘Christ-like’ reincarnation of Trump, post-shooting,” he said.

“Violence breeds violence, and it was of course Trump himself who called for violence against legislators in the Capitol building.

“Once politics becomes about beliefs and emotions, people will do all kind of things. Even if Trump is to lose the election – and he won’t while Biden stays in the White House – it’s a scary time.”

Prof Glees then warned what could happen if Trump becomes the President, he said the “federal American state” could be “purged” of democrats.

He added, “We know what he’s got planned – he said he wanted to be a dictator, just for 24 hours,” said Glees. “And he said how he’d like all the institutions of the federal American state to be ‘purged’ of Democrats. Now, he probably just meant the removal of them, but it may well go beyond that if they [the Democrats] were prepared to resist.”

He warned that Trump has a “hidden army of Trump supporters armed to the teeth” with weapons and more worryingly the former President “believes they should have” those guns.

Prof Glees added, “[Trump] will say, ‘this man who tried to kill me got shot very quickly’ and this proves his point that the only protection against a shooter with a gun is a shooter with a gun. And that is very dark.”

Speaking to the Washington Examiner Trump said on Monday, “The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be a humdinger,” adding, “Honestly, it’s going to be a whole different speech now.”

“That reality is just setting in,” he told the newspaper “I rarely look away from the crowd. Had I not done that in that moment, well, we would not be talking today, would we?”
