Having secured the all-time record at ten F1 race wins in a row, the Red Bull driver heads to a track he has rarely had much luck at: the 3.07 miles of Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Sergio Perez was victorious in last year’s Singapore Grand Prix after Verstappen was restricted by a qualifying mishap.
Overtaking is fairly tough around these narrow, if scenic, streets so Saturday’s qualifying promises to be as integral as it gets on the F1 calendar.
With the championship and second place basically sewn up, there remains a fascinating battle between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton as the veterans jostle for third in the standings while separated by just six points.
