Close to Donald Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida secret service agents opened fire after they saw a man with a firearm which was later found to be “an AK-47” whilst the former President out golfing.

Trump’s campaign confirmed he is safe and well and the FBI has described this as “what appears to be an attempted assassination.”

The armed person fled the scene in a SUV and was later arrested.

Trump wrote on X, “Again folks!

“SHOTS FIRED at Trump Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“An AK-47 was discovered in the bushes, per local law enforcement. The Trump campaign has released a statement confirming former President Trump is safe.

“A suspect has reportedly been apprehended.”

In a Trump Campaign Statement, Steven Cheung, Trump’s Campaign Communication Director wrote, “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.”

CNN’s John Miller said, “Officials believe the shots fired at Trump International Golf Club were intended for former President Donald Trump, according to sources familiar on the matter.

“The Secret Service identified the direction” of the shots “and returned fire at that gunman, who fled. Witnesses were able to provide a description of an individual and a vehicle. We are told that a vehicle that is close to that description has been stopped.”

Writing on X, Natalie Winters who is a journalist said, “Shots were just fired at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“Trump was there golfing. An AK-47 was discovered in the bushes and the suspect fled over a nearby wall, per a source in Florida law enforcement.”
