Whitegates has confirmed that its Mirfield branch has been acquired by Chan Khangura (image – far right) and his father, Kashmir Khangura (centre).

Chan Khangura, who currently owns and operates Whitegates Huddersfield, Brighouse, and Pontefract, has been a franchise owner with the brand since July 2012. The acquisition of the Mirfield branch marks his ninth agency purchase, continuing a strong record of strategic growth and business development within the network.

This latest deal represents another step in Chan Khangura’s expansion of the Whitegates brand through a combination of office resales and independent agency acquisitions. Over the past five years, he has completed eight previous transactions, positioning himself as one of the most active franchise operators in the group.

The Mirfield office will remain at its current location and continue trading under the Whitegates name. It will function as a modern satellite office, ensuring continuity for both customers and staff during the transition.

Chan Khangura said: “It is such a strategic location for us. Just outside of Huddersfield, it makes for a very useful satellite office, which is how it will be run. Our plan is to keep expanding and purchasing good quality sales and rental businesses. With the structure we have in place, combined with the support of The Property Franchise Group (TPFG) and the digital marketing resources available, we are confident in growing the brand further.”

Khangura credits his success to a combination of strong staff leadership and the support of the franchisor: “As a Franchise Owner, you want to work with your franchisor, not against them, and I have always found the team at TPFG very supportive. The biggest strength we have is our staff – good quality, senior team members who understand the fundamentals of running an estate agency and managing teams effectively.”

Looking ahead, Khangura confirmed that further expansion remains part of the long-term strategy: “In the areas we currently operate, we will keep expanding. The senior team structure is there to allow us to do that. I would always advise anyone considering growth to look at acquisitions, not necessarily more offices, but bolting in quality lettings businesses to make the operation stronger and more sustainable.”

Rob Smith, TPFG group managing director, commented on the acquisition: “We are delighted to see Chan and Kashmir expand their presence within the Whitegates network with the addition of Mirfield. Chan’s proven track record, strategic approach, and commitment to delivering excellent customer service make him an outstanding ambassador for the brand. We look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of his business group.”
