GM to invest more than $1 billion in these 2 Flint facilities to make internal combustion engine heavy-duty trucks

announced Monday plans to invest more than $1 billion to prepare two of its Flint, Mich. plants for production of “next-generation” internal combustion engine (ICE) heavy-duty trucks. The two manufacturing sites are Flint Assembly, at G 3100 Vanslyke Road, and Flint Metal Center, at G-2238 Bristol Road. The automaker will invest $788 million in the Flint Assembly plant to assemble the ICE trucks and $233 million in the Flint Metal Center to for new stamping dies to support production of the trucks. “These investments reflect our commitment to our loyal truck customers and the efforts of the dedicated employees of Flint Assembly and Flint Metal Center,” said Gerald Johnson, executive vice president of GM global manufacturing and sustainability. GM’s stock was little changed in midday trading. It has dropped 16.4% over the past three months while shares of rival Ford Motor Co.
