The Turkish President Recep Yayyip Erdogan has declared that Israel are “war criminals” as he stands firm with the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

He has vowed to launch a “global initiative” to stop the fighting in the Gaza Strip and he has accused Israel of being war criminals, he pro-government newspaper Hurriyet reported.

He said: ” I will call each of the world leaders, negotiate with them, and meet with them if necessary. I intend to launch a joint global initiative on Gaza with leaders, presidents and prime ministers.”

The Turkish President said, “Israel we will proclaim you as a war criminal to the world. We are making our preparations, and we will declare Israel to the world as a war criminal.

Erdogan has previously said that Hamas are “not a terrorist oganisation, but a group of freedom and mujahideen who are striving to protect their lands and their citizens.”

A senior Hamas leader has declared a “permanent war” with Israel and the terrorist group are calling on the Arab world to join in the conflict.

Khalil al-Hayya, said the 7 October attacks in southern Israel which killed at least 1,400 Israelis happened to “change the entire equation and not just have a clash.”

He told the New York Times, “We succeeded in putting the Palestinian issue back on the table, and now no one in the region is experiencing calm.”

Al-Hayya added, “I hope that the state of war with Israel will become permanent on all the borders and that the Arab world will stand with us.

“What could change the equation was a great act, and without a doubt, it was known that the reaction to this great act would be big. We had to tell people that the Palestinian cause would not die.”
