Interim boss Cristian Stellini has said that the Frenchman is not 100 per cent fit, but he could still be risked at St James’ Park, particularly after his replacement Davinson Sanchez was booed by his own fans following a nightmare cameo against the Cherries in which he was taken off less than 25 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Stellini also reveled that Ben Davies has resumed light training, raising the possibility that he could be on the bench against Newcastle.
Villarreal loanee Arnaut Danjuma is pushing for a first Spurs start after his goal against Bournemouth, while Richarlison could also come into the side, with Dejan Kulusevski most likely to drop out.
Beyond that, it is hard to see many changes in the Spurs lineup or personnel, although one option for Stellini is to match Newcastle’s three-man midfield by bringing in Pape Matar Sarr at the expense of a forward or centre-back.
Predicted Tottenham XI (4-3-3): Lloris; Romero, Dier, Lenglet, Porro; Hojbjerg, Skipp, Perisic; Danjuma, Son, Kane.
