The awards, organised by Property Week and held at the Grosvenor House hotel in London, recognise the outstanding contribution of companies and individuals working in the real estate sector.

British Land and AustralianSuper won the Deal of the Year – Commercial Property prize after reaching an agreement that would see a 53-acre site in south London transformed into a new town centre.

Other winners on the night included Related Argent, which was named Property Company of the Year after a highly successful 12 months that included a major rebranding and starting work on the Brent Cross Town development.

The award for Developer of the Year – Commercial Property went to the Battersea Power Station Development Company for its work transforming of the iconic building into a mixed-use development with 254 apartments, 565,000 sq ft of offices and more than 100 shops, bars and restaurants.

Individual winners on the night included Brian Bickell who was named Property Personality of the Year. Last year, Bickell oversaw the merger between West End landlord Shaftesbury and Capital & Counties to form Shaftesbury Capital, the biggest owner of property in the Soho and Covent Garden areas of London, before retiring earlier this year.

The Young Property Personality of the Year award was won jointly by Clare Coe and Louisa Dickins. Coe is a co-founder of property recruitment firm Madison Berkeley while Dickins set up proptech recruitment consultancy LMRE.

Urban development and regeneration specialist Vivenne King and former Old Park Lane Management managing director Tim Sketchley were both inducted into the Property Awards Hall of Fame.
